Hala has spent 20+ years in the tech industry in multiple roles including development, project/program management, agile coaching and training, and product management. Hala’s experience spans startup as well as enterprise environments, and she has founded both software and brick-and-mortar companies and projects. 

Hala’s approach to software is one that puts the human at the center of everything we do, starting with deeply understanding the problems they face and the opportunities we have to solve those problems for them, to designing solutions that fit into their lives. 

As someone who is committed to social justice and advocacy work, Hala believes in the importance of designing technology in a way that gives people autonomy and agency over their data, privacy, attention, and safety. As such, Hala also studies and teaches about how to reclaim autonomy over the technologies we use in our daily lives.

Hala is also a community builder; in April 2024 she founded and launched Ya Hala Seattle, a community space and café focused on creating a safe space for people to connect, learn, and grow.
